Journey to the center of the earth is a 2011 American adventure film written and directed by Stephen Hopkins. The movie was produced by The Asylum. It was released to DVD and Blu-ray on May 3, 2011. It stars Alexander Ludwig, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rufus Sewell, Karl Urban, and Tom Skerritt. It was released in 3D.
This was the second Asylum movie to be filmed entirely with a green screen and has been advertised as such.
The film was released on DVD in the United States in 3D in an all-new SteelBook case on May 3, 2011.
Storyline
In the year 2154, a spaceship crew led by a scientist are attacked by a monstrous creature.
Drake is their leader, a scientist who dreams of reaching the center of the Earth, where a stasis capsule is rumored to have been created.
The attack leaves the crew incapacitated on the ship, where a battle ensues for survival.

The Journey to the Center of the Earth is a 1959 novel by Jules Verne, and the sequel to his From the Earth to the Moon. The book itself is about a group of men who get stranded on the Moon, and struggle to survive in a mysterious lunar valley, whilst their moon rover crashes on the interior of the Earth. It is one of a few works in which astronauts are depicted as explorers in inner space, who are stranded and left to discover the reason for their predicament. In the novel, the inside of the Earth is considerably smaller and more hostile, and even has monsters living in its depths. The Soviet Union was one of the first countries to adapt the book for screen. A few short film versions were produced in the Soviet Union and later in East Germany, including such works as the 1982 film Storm in a Water Glass.
